Description
Muratie Melck's Red Blend 2023 is an approachable Stellenbosch red built around bright fruit, supple tannins, and restrained oak. Made from selected estate vineyard blocks, the individual varieties are handled separately before blending, allowing the finished wine to retain freshness and definition while still offering enough texture and structure to feel complete.
The palate is medium-bodied and fruit-forward, with red berries at the center, lifted by a light note of white pepper and a subtle touch of dark chocolate. Smooth tannins keep the wine soft and flexible, while seasoned French oak adds gentle depth without weighing down the fruit. The finish remains clean and balanced. It would pair especially well with roast chicken, burgers, pizza, tomato-based pasta, or simple grilled meats.
Made for easy enjoyment, this is a versatile red blend with enough character and polish to work equally well at a relaxed dinner table or on its own.

In the cellar
The fruit was hand-harvested from selected vineyard blocks across the Muratie estate, with each variety fermented separately to preserve its individual character. Fermentation took place in a combination of stainless steel tanks and open-top fermenters, balancing fruit purity with gentle extraction. The wine then matured for 16 months in seasoned French oak barrels, allowing subtle oak integration while keeping the fruit fresh and expressive.
