Description
The Mont Rochelle Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 is a classically styled Franschhoek Cabernet with a modern, polished edge, showcasing the purity and precision of fruit from the estate’s rejuvenated vineyards.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby color with youthful purple hues, opening with lifted aromas of cassis, blackcurrant, and a distinctive note of eucalyptus. Layers of cigar box, graphite (pencil shavings), and ripe black fruit add complexity and structure. On the palate, the wine is refined yet expressive, with silky tannins and bright, juicy acidity working in harmony to create a poised and balanced profile. The finish is long and elegant, with a sense of both freshness and underlying power.
Crafted from virus-free vines planted just six years ago, this wine reflects a focus on purity, finesse, and site expression, resulting in a Cabernet Sauvignon that is both approachable and age-worthy.
This is a versatile, food-driven wine, pairing beautifully with grilled meats, lamb, beef, and rich, savory dishes.

In the cellar
The grapes were harvested at optimal ripeness from carefully managed, virus-free vineyards, ensuring purity and concentration of fruit. Vinification was carried out with a gentle, minimal-intervention approach to preserve nuance and varietal character. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled conditions, with careful extraction to maintain balance and finesse. The wine was then matured in oak barrels to integrate tannins and build complexity, resulting in a seamless and structured final blend.
