Description
La Petite Ferme Baboon Rock Chardonnay 2026 is a bright, unoaked Franschhoek Chardonnay focused on freshness, citrus lift, and clear fruit expression. Fermentation in stainless steel keeps the style clean and energetic, with no oak influence to soften the wine’s crisp profile.
Lemon and lime lead the nose and continue onto the palate, where tropical fruit adds a little more breadth without taking away from the wine’s freshness. Lively acidity gives the wine a mouthwatering shape and carries through a clean, persistent finish. It would pair especially well with grilled fish, chicken salads, sushi, or lighter pasta dishes.
Made for early enjoyment, this is a versatile Chardonnay with enough natural acidity and fruit definition to remain fresh and expressive over the next few years.

In the cellar
The grapes were harvested between 22.0 and 22.5° Balling to preserve freshness and natural acidity. Fermentation took place at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks, helping retain the wine’s bright fruit character, crisp texture, and lively finish. No oak maturation was used.

About the Winery
Situated on the side of the majestic Middagkrans Mountains of the magnificent Franschhoek Valley, the west-facing La Petite Ferme is one of the more intimate wineries in the Cape Winelands.
More than 300 years ago, when the Huguenots arrived, they brought with them their age-old French wine and food culture. Theses amazing vineyards that cover these mountain slopes boast a valley rich in history and are centered on a picturesque village of warm and friendly people.
After the revocation of the Edict of Nantes in France in 1685, when Protestantism was outlawed, hundreds of so-called Huguenots fled their homeland, 277 of them arriving by ship at the Cape of Good Hope. Many of them were given land by the Dutch government in a valley called Oliphantshoek (Elephant Corner) - so named because of the vast herds of elephants that roamed the area. Soon after they settled here, it becomes known as Franschhoek (French Corner).' Most of the wineries in Franschhoek still have their original French names and the homesteads are all Cape Dutch with gorgeous Oaks and luscious vineyards.
La Petite Ferme, situated in Franschhoek, arguably the most historic, beautiful and captivating town in the Cape Winelands, promises each guest an unforgettable experience. Just an hour’s drive from Cape Town you will find the unique tranquillity, luxury and warmth of La Petite Ferme. A destination for all local and international guests, offering award-winning cuisine, wines and accommodation.
